Beta2 Turkey

We did not have any updates in the past weeks, like we used to in the alpha stages. Reasoning was two fold: * There were database changes, which touched every part of the LinuxMCE * Beta is no alpha, and we want to make sure, things work before inflicting pain onto the majority of LinuxMCE users. Among other things, the past weeks have been used to optimize the setup of graphic card drivers. Inclusion of VDPAU enabled MythTV and Xine. For people outside the US, another major step towards support for UTF-8 has been taken. This means, Umlauts, accents etc should show up correct. We still have open bugs, but are confident, that this beta2 is a major step towards a release candidate. Best regards Peer Oliver Schmidt Release Manager for LinuxMCE 810

We have a beta

For me, this is personal. Over the course of the last year and a half, I've been spending most of my waking time getting LinuxMCE to a new release. Together with Thom Cherryhomes and Harald Klein, without whom this would not have been possible, with Zaerc, who has created the initial building blocks upon we all stand now. With the help of all the testers and developers, whom I only know by their nicks, from sambuca, jondecker, uplink, and the countless others.
